As a frequent camper and a woman of a certain age, my camp toilet is as essential to my camping set-up as my tent. Over the years, I’ve tried various solutions for gelling waste, and I am a big fan of these “Poo Gel” packets. While they do cost a bit more per use than simply buying bulk SAP granules, I really appreciate the ease of being able to pack roughly what I need instead of lugging a whole container. And at less than $0.5 per pack, they are still a very cost-effective alternative to grabbing a flashlight and making the trek to the community bathroom in the middle of the night.Obviously, I’m not going to trust any untested camp product in the field, so I conducted my own test at home. The listing states that one packet is sufficient to gel about 650 ml of liquid, but of course I didn’t read that first. Instead, I did my standard test, which was to fill a baggie with 4 cups of water and one packet. I was initially disappointed, as nothing seemed to happen immediately, but when I returned to the experiment a couple minutes later, everything was nicely firmed up with no remaining liquid. So in my case, I successful gelled about 950 ml, considerably more than advertised. Since I’m reasonably sure that this amount far exceeds the actual amount of liquid I’ll need to treat, I am confident these will become a trusted part of my camping gear.There are two minor things that I don’t love about this product, neither of which is a dealbreaker but are worth noting. First, is that, while the powder itself is bio-degradable, the single-use packets don’t seem to be. This is true of every brand I’ve tried. I understand the practical reasoning, which is to keep the powder dry, but I really wish someone could think up a solution to this because it would make me so much happier about using them then disposing of 100 single-use wrappers. The second detail is the “lemon scent.” To be fair, it is almost undetectable with this particular product, and that’s a very good thing in a camp environment where odors attract wild animals. I can’t imagine the humiliation of having a bear break into my tent in the middle of the night in search of my camp toilet. That may be a useful characteristic if using this product indoors, say, for a bedside commode, but it isn’t ideal for my purposes. As I said, this particular brand has only a hint of scent, so that is really a complaint in general about similar products regardless of seller – and something to be aware of. Other than those two “improvements” I think this could use, I’m perfectly happy with this product.

Bought this as a supply to use during backwoods camping. Great tool as you don’t want anything sloshing in a bucket and risk leaks especially when trying to pack up and leave!

I brought these to go camping and they were excellent. If you are camping in the middle of nowhere without access to a public bathroom and you bring your own portable toilet, these definitely make the portable toilet a lot more bearable to have nearby and to use. It didn’t smell as much while using these and they were really handy to have on hand.

There are so many reasons to have these around. Perfect for camping (of course), perfect for car camping and not wanting to have a smell, slosh, or leave your vehicle. Great for the emergency bedside commode, great for truckers, great for the road. J read another review who uses these for Sickness which makes sense and I never thought about.Eliminates the smell of urine – nice! Already portioned out ti carry for those emergencies, to carry unnoticed, or to prevent waste.These are now a must for me.

I picked these up for travel emergencies when restrooms are not available. I just carry a spare tea bottle or two and a few of these packets. Perfect for restroom emergencies out in remote areas.

Great at the campsite and also the car rides there too
The gel works great. While you can use these in the camp toilets, I have also found them useful to keep in the car so if anyone gets sick, I throw some of this into the vomit bag and it will stabilize the contents until you can get to a disposal site.Before this, we have had to carry a sloshing bag with its accompanying odor in the car for almost an hour till we found a place we could pull over, stop and dispose of the bags. Now we can at least make it less liquid to avoid even more of a mess in the car.
