has worked well on long summer hikes
Have been using these on several long summer hikes through national parks. They work well. Standard steel cable inside. Light, and has a storage bag. I’ve just been using their “rocky road” tips which are durable and grippy. Straightforward to quickly assemble for use, and easy to recollapse. These wrist straps have a buckle which I find more intuitive and easy to adjust than other strap styles. The handles are hard versus other styles that have a little give, like cork, but this is good enough.I would definitely be happy to bring this along on all my hikes.

    They didn’t snap together
You couldn’t use as the three sections didn’t stay together

    Very compact and lightweight
Needed stix to go on a trip that included a few strenuous hikes and using stix were recommended. So glad I got these, they are way smaller and lighter than mine at home and fit fine in my carry-on wheelie bag. Worked fine – only used a couple of times but will use for travel in the future.

    Functional and affordable.
I believe a product earns five stars if it does everything its listing claims and does it well. In my opinion, these trekking poles meet that criteria.Included in the box were two collapsed trekking poles, an assortment of tips — hard surface, sand, snow, angular gravel, in addition to the built-in ice tips — two carry sleeves, and an emergency raincoat.Others have complained that the raincoat is thin, and it is, but that is the nature of single-use, emergency raincoats. My advice: Leave it in your backpack, because you might need it — you know, in an emergency — but don’t take it out of its sleeve, no matter how curious you are, because you won’t get it back in. Which is to say, I learned that the hard way, so you don’t have to.The trekking poles are of a popular design that breaks down into three sections to make them ultra compact and thus packable when not in use. When assembled, the three sections are held taut by an internal cable of precise length. Pull the sections together until their female/male ends lock via a brass button (see accompanying photo), then adjust the overall length from 41 to 53 inches with the integrated cam lever. Is the process fiddly? A bit, but that is how most in this class of trekking poles work. And these trekking poles do work.Subject to two caveats:(1) I wear size-large men’s gloves, because my fingers are longish although my hands are slim, and the grips of these trekking poles are just long enough to fit my hands comfortably. If your man hands are truly large, I suspect the grips will feel too short.(2) Although the internal cables hold the trekking poles taut when assembled, there is the slightest play in the two male/female joints. Such, in my experience, is the nature of this style of trekking poles. If they were any tighter, you’d never get them apart. Anyway, the poles might ring a bit if you tap them just so, especially when using the bare ice tips. Is it distracting? Not to me, but I can’t speak for you. If you want the most rigid trekking poles, invest in a solid, non-collapsing option.Bottom line: I like and will continue to use these trekking poles, but I especially like that they cost a third of what I’ve paid for similar products. They’re not the lightest I’ve used, nor are they of the highest overall quality — those were carbon fiber with cork grips — but these are the lightest, highest quality I’ve used at this price point, and that’s not nothing.Hope this helps. Clear skies!

    Good Low Cost Trekking Poles
I like these trekking poles. They are the type with three loose sections that pull together using a spring-loaded internal wire, similar to some tent poles. There are positives and negatives with that design versus the type where the sections telescope into one another. The big positive that I like with this design is that the pole breaks down into a shorter package than the telescoping design. These will fit into a small pack or airplane carry on. Even better for my use is that a broken-down pole is short enough that I can slip it into a rear pocket on my jeans – it sticks, out of course, but it’s not so tall that it flops over in the pocket. I typically just carry one pole, and prefer to carry it in my pocket and only pull it out when I hit a slippery or icy spot in on the trail. So, one of these is great for my use.The poles are easy to assemble and disassemble, and feel sturdy. There is also one telescoping section with a cam-lock below the handle that allows for length adjustment. I weighed a single pole with the small basket attached at 10.7 oz. on an accurate postal scale. The drawback of this design versus telescoping is that the telescoping design makes a neater (but longer) package when it’s broken down. The three sections on these poles are held together with a Velcro strap when disassembled, but the bundle is kind of loose and floppy. I suppose that’s why they give you the two small storage pouches to keep each pole in.You can get trekking poles that are lighter, have nicer grips, have shock absorbers, etc. But these are good ones to consider if you just want some basic, functional poles at a good price.

My wife and I are planning a trip to the Rockies this summer and have been looking for some trekking poles to use during our hikes when I came across this pair from AISUNOUTDOOR. They look like they will fit our needs perfectly and were very reasonably priced. The package includes a pair of collapsible aluminum trekking poles as well as different tips and baskets for each pole. Each pole has the standard ice & gravel tip that’s built and you also get a concrete/asphalt “foot” shaped tip, a round rock tip, a mud and sand basket and a snow basket for each pole. Each pole also comes with a nice Nylon storage pouch to store the poles and various tips in when not in use. These poles are made from aircraft grade Aluminum and weigh just over 10 oz each. They have a 3 piece design that’s held together by a metal cable and spring located inside the poles. When they’re collapsed for storage they measure approximately 14″ in length so they’re small enough and light enough that you can easily store them in your backpack or inside your vehicle. They’re easy to extend and assemble. You just undo the Velcro strap holding the three sections together, slide the three sections into one another and then extend the top most section out from the handle until the locking pin pops out and locks the sections together. The cable and spring hold the poles together firmly and all you have to do to collapse them again is push in the spring loaded locking pin and pull the sections apart. The poles feel quite firm once assembled although there is a slight bit of flex in the shaft if you put your full weight on it so they will help absorb shock and provide a more comfortable experience, especially on uneven ground. These poles are also height adjustable and can be extended from their lowest/shortest height of 43″ (110 cm) to a maximum height of 51″ (130 cm) which is great because I’m 5′ 11″ and my wife is 5′ 5″. Just flip open the locking collar and adjust to your preferred length/height. There are markings on the shaft that go from 115 cm to 130 cm in 1 cm increments and a Stop Line so you don’t pull them out too far.Overall we’re very happy with the quality, features and price of these trekking poles, so they get a highly recommended and 5 out of 5 stars.

These poles have a quick adjustment latch that lets me configure the length of the pole. I found I can easily adjust the poles to find a height that fits my trekking style. The poles are very light.. One pole weighs 10.35 oz. according to my kitchen scale. They’re made of aluminum and they come in 3 sections that are tethered with a cable running inside the pole. Being able to collapse each pole into 3 segments make the poles compact enough for me to transport theem around in my backpack or car. Each pole comes with a bag for storing and keeping the pole and attachments together. The bag comes with a cord stopper for quick tie up and release. The cable in the pole helps to guide me to connect the separate pole segments into the final complete trekking pole. I noticed that when you connect the separate segments, the pole is not fully attached and the segments will fall apart. To keep the segments firmly in place, the top-most segment needs to be pulled until the spring button pops out. To collapse the trekking pole, press the spring button in and slide the top most segment over the spring button. The 3 segments should slide out and you can continue to collapse the trekking pole. There is a quick release lever on the top most segment of the pole to help adjust the height of the trekking pole. The pole itself has inscribed height indicator markers in 1 cm increments. This lets me remember my personal settings when I need to re-assemble my trekking pole quickly when it has been stored away. The pole itself comes in a nice aqua blue colour. It’s sturdy, strong, and does not flex. The handle is a rubber black material (gives off a rubbery smell) and is contoured nicely to fit my hand. It feels comfortable when walking with poles in hand. Integrated into the handle is an adjustable wrist strap. It’s a typical strap you will find on ski poles. Most of my walking is on concrete or asphalt. There’s an attachment for this along with attachments for mud and stand, snow, and rocky roads. The trekking pole is made for ice and gravel. You can insert the other attachments over the ice and gravel tip for your trek preference.

Theese poles are not very good, broke when we got to the mountaintop. Descent without the pole was very hard.

Once assembled, these walking sticks are stable and reliable. They are also very light. Carrying them during walks doesn’t add any extra burden. When not in use, they can be conveniently disassembled into three sections for easy transport.Setting them up is straightforward. Simply extend the middle pole until you hear a click from the quick-release ball lock, ensuring it’s securely in place. Then, adjust the height of the handle pole to your desired comfort level and tighten the latch.Additionally, these walking sticks come with four different baskets to accommodate various ground conditions. However, the included raincoat however seems to be made of flimsy disposable plastic. Despite this, it doesn’t affect my five-star rating for this walking pole.

Update. Ive changed my stars from 2 to 4: (original review is below)The seller reached out to me after seeing my review and the experience id shared and wanted to replace the walking sticks at no cost as ny experience wasnt the typical one. I agreed and gave them a shot. At this point my mom had her own she like so i decdided id use them. I have tested them out and i have found that for this price point these are great when you add in the high quality service. They care about their product and a company that cares wanted to keep improving. So i imagine these will keep improving over time.I cant give 5 stars though as there are some quirks. If you accidently pull it apart the cable will be separated, i thought it was broken for sure, but all you need to do it just slowly put it with the cable back together. I dont know what keeps it together ot how it connects but go past the line that days to to go past on the polls it happens. When i took it out of the box this happened as the writing isnt super notible saying to stop as its in white. It was easy to figure out for me. The tips turn at the end still but being aware it happens make it easy to deal with. They are definately heavier than my moms, but i like the weight. I absolutely love that blue though!! Stunning!! Love that. The handgrips are smallish, i feel small hand people would like them more. I hands and when i hold the grip its fine but my hand is the whole thing. After a few use i doubt ill notice any of the quirks..and again that blue is amazing. They might not be for everyone. My mom for example doesnt like them at all anf she still doesnt as her personal preferences and likes dont align. I have no experience using hiking sticks other than these and i like them and having kow used them myself and experienced any quirks, id give it 4 out of 5 gave these as a gift and upon opening it was discovered that One of the poles couldn’t be adjust for height as it had a section stuck inside. This was embarassing and made for an ackward gift. I apologized and said I’d contact the seller. I then saw a review that had same problem being stuck that described needing some brute force and tools to get it unstuck, so I did what they did and was able to finally get it unstuck the same brute force way I again apologized for my gift (these) and offered to return them for something else but they declined and said it was ok since I manage to get it unstuck, HOWEVER, then we went for a walk and more problems became apparent such as the screw to keep tight the height setting repeatly not staying and almost getting lost a couple times before even being in use, once we began walking we noticed immediately the end section with tip just freely spins while walking due to design as it is not locked in place. This makes tips that are shaped to be used in a certain direction (like the one for use on paved ground) rather useless and seeing it just spin around made the whole thing rather silly. I apologized again for the embarassing quality of my gift and they agreed for me to returned it It has since been returned. The only reason I gave it any stars was because they did have a nice assortment of tips included and the color was well liked.
