    Helpful and Understanding
Although inclusivity is a word a small child may not understand, this is what this book is about. It’s about accepting the differences that are unique to each child and human being. Even the momentary “bully” relents when the object of his bullying helps him out in an interesting twist. Beautifully illustrated, this book would make a great gift for a young child. Also, a great conversation starter for parents to talk about diversity.

    Such a cute book!
I like that this book promotes the idea that being different shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of, because we are all different in our own way. I wish more kids could understand this, especially if one is dealing with bullies. This is an excellent book to read with your child and can bring up important topics to talk about afterward.

A cute story that teaches how we are all different and unique
children need to know that they are special and one of a kind. This book does just that. It’s a story about a little girl who needs glasses and how a friend gives her support. It teaches lessons such as diversity and being kind as well. A good one for parents to read to their kids or teachers in the classroom.

A gentle story about accepting oneself and others and the beauty of diversity
Little Nina is wearing glasses for the first time. Concerned that she looks different, Nina fears the reactions of her fellow students as she rides the bus to class. Nina confides in her best friend Meera, who offers understanding and support. As class commences, Nina’s fears are realized, as she finds herself taunted about her new appearance. But as the day continues, Nina and her classmates learn that differences are nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone is unique and important, and our diversity and friendships are something to celebrate. I cannot overstate how much I needed this book right now. Like Nina, I also wear glasses. And like Nina, I often feel that I am very different from the others around me. With colorful illustrations and incredible storytelling, Nina’s journey shows the importance of diversity and friendship. Though Nina encounters adversity, I loved the conflict resolution of the story. A lovely tale of acceptance, Nina’s story shows not only how significant tolerance is towards others, but also the importance of accepting oneself, no matter how different we may appear. Diversity Book for Children by Adrian Laurent is a gentle introduction to diversity and acceptance suitable for children ages 4 and up. Perfect for reading in a group or independently, Nina’s journey of friendship and celebrating world culture is a lovely example of how our beautiful differences make the world go round.

Timeless message we should all learn
Such a sweet little story. I can see how kids that are bullied would find more confidence in reading this. A bully is nothing more than a Hoverbee. He appears dangerous but if you look close, you will discover that the bully has no stinger😊

    Interesting Book
I like this book because it doesn’t start off focusing on the obvious differences people have. It starts off with something so simple like glasses. This book was spot on in explaining how we are all different.

    An important lesson
A simple introduction into diversity is something as simple as wearing glasses and the main character addresses that issue well. The illustrations are good and it’s an easy read.

Helping kids embrace differences in each other
Young children don’t always understand that we may look different, act differently, and live in a different culture. Still, underneath the surface, we all have feelings and are fundamentally the same. Diversity Book for Kids aims to illustrate how, even if we look different, we should still treat everyone the same. This book can help open the door to that conversation so that parents can help their children develop emotional intelligence.
