If 10,000 Micrograms (10 mg) of Biotin is a massive dose, then 5,000 Micrograms is half a massive dose.That said, our entire family takes Biotin as a supplement daily. We believe it helps our skin, hair, and nails. Sometimes, this extra Biotin is included in a “One a Day” vitamin supplement.The FDA has not established a % Daily Value for Biotin intake, but most supplements show a %DV on their label. This “Vital Vitamins Biotin Complex” label says that the Serving Size is two capsules and contains 5000 Micrograms of Biotin. It also says that this amount is 208,333% of the %DV.The Mayo Clinic says adults and teenagers should consume 30-100 Micrograms of Biotin by mouth daily to prevent deficiency. Much of this comes from a regular diet. There is no upper limit because Biotin is water-soluble. In other words, there is no proof that too much Biotin is toxic to the human body. It is possibly toxic to a bank account if 99.99% of the Biotin ends up in the toilet.Massive doses of Biotin can also interfere with specific laboratory tests. But I am not a doctor, and you should do your own research on Biotin. I’m happy taking one of these capsules per day.One capsule gives me 2,500 Micrograms of Biotin in addition to my diet.
