Great Line of Books
I got this as part of my son’s 4th birthday gift, which will also include an Uncle Milton’s ice and fire volcano and a volcano movie, since he’s obsessed with volcanos. The pictures are wonderful but it will also be interesting to read since it has so many great facts. We already have the weirdest sea creatures book and this one seems to be just as wonderful. Plan to buy more of this wonderful line of books.

Perfect for science lesson
I used this book in conjunction with a volcano experiment. I did the classic baking soda and vinegar volcano. This book had a lot of interesting facts and I felt like my seven year old was able to retain at least a few of those facts. Currently with online learning Iâve been looking for a way to better engage my child in productive learning activities. I felt like this book was short enough and easy enough for him to read (second grade reading level) while also being factual enough for even the average adult to learn something from.

Nice book for early readers
this was a very nice book with awesome pictures. i did sent it back however because it was a little too easy for my 1st grader who reads at a 3rd-4th grade level. it would have been great for her a 1-2 years ago. it’s probably perfect for a kindergartner or pre-schooler who reads with a little help, or a 1st grade who reads at an average level. overall it’s exactly what you’d expect from national geographic, which is nothing less than excellent.

Fun and educational
I purchased this book to go along with a “build your own volcano kit.” It was perfect for my 11 year old nephew. I like gifts that are both fun and educational. I suggest buying the kit too. His came with a plastic mold for constructing again and again. It would only require more plaster which can be bought at any hobby store. This gives kids hands on fun and learning and beats putting them in front of yet another video game.

My son loves volcanoes and everything that has to do with them, so finding this book and being able to see authentic images of volcanoes, the most dangerous and active in the world, moved him a lot and encouraged him to continue saying that he wants to be a volcanologist and know all the fire chain shown here.

I bought this book without knowing the level of the contents. It turns out that it is too elementary for the nine -year- girl for whom I bought it. she has a great interest in volcanoes and has been Googling in depth on the subject a lot. So she knows a lot more than the information given in this level 2 book. She thinks I should have bought her a serious adult book on volcanoes . She likes the graphics though. However, this was the only National Geographic book on volcanoes that I spotted on the Amazon platform.

Pictures are really nice and the text is clear and easy but they could have added some more information. The description of the three kind of volcanoes should have been wider

I actually purchased this used and it was in very good condition as I only paid a couple of pounds for it.Very formative book about volcanoes, nice glossy photographs and clear text, but wouldn’t have expected anything less from National Geographic. It was such a nice book I saved it and wrapped it as part of my 8 years (then 7)step sons Christmas books; we have read it lots of times together (I have even read it on my own, it’s a really good book as I knew very little about volcanoes)and looking at photographs he loves it and now know recites back to us from cover to cover.A must by for any child interested in these kind of topics.
