Wonderful Read
Update: finished.Wonderful read all the way through.Beautiful message.Like any worthwhile reading, it extends beyond the immediate subject matter.Worthy lessons.I’m only halfway through, but my pages are already marked with highlighter and page markers. It’s really the right blend of thought, humor, depth and insight into the human condition without being prescriptive. If I were to reword the title, I would call it “Permission to Wander”

An incredible look at life on and off the trail
Ryanâs account of his incredible journey from Georgia to Maine is writ with all of the highs, lows and everything in between that youâd expect from such an incredible adventure. This reader couldnât wait to summit Katahdin with the author while simultaneously wishing it would never come. As many thru-hikers come to find, the most fruitful adventurers find what they are looking for along the way, not at the destination. The authorâs ability to effectively translate the emotion and lessons learned to writing makes for an unforgettable and gripping read.Take a walk with Ryan and discover why the AT remains one of the most alluring and revealing trails in the world. The trail is just a clearing in the woods, the adventure lies in each of us and Ryanâs personal memoir is a magnificent example of the power it bears for those brave enough to commit.Highly recommended

Good book
I enjoyed the basic writing style. Common language, not overly detailed, mainly describing the changes he wanted to make n his life and how the trail helped him do this. He seemed to be very insightful concerning where he’d been in life nd where he wanted to go.

Inspirational and thought provoking
I Hiked my Own Hike through this book, or at least I feel like I did. Sometimes I felt the need to take a zero day and not read, but more often I couldnât put it down. I enjoyed the way the story was told through how the author felt while accomplishing this strenuous task. The trail, nature and personal interactions were described in a way that made it real for the reader. In the end I feel inspired and ready to take on life with a new zeal.

Great Book
Very good book that does not quite fall into the normal “I walked this trail and it changed my life” category. This book was different in a very good way. Enjoyed the writing and the life lessons included..

Easy read
The book is an easy read. It paints a picture of the trek on the Appalachian trail and tells the triumphs and challenges of a guy that needed a break from his world.
